This Privacy Policy applies to the site www.cci-online.org. The policy describes the information that the Cardiovascular Credentialing International ("we," "our" or "CCI") collects on this site and how we use it, the choices that applicants, candidates and registrants, can make about personal information, and how we protect the personal information that applicants, candidates, and registrants provide to CCI. By using the CCI website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.
Collection of your Personal Information
We collect the following personal information that you submit to CCI through your online account: email address and postal address. Transactions that require payment information (i.e. credit cards) are processed on a secure third-party platform. These third-party platforms have independent privacy and data collection practices and CCI is not responsible for their policies. CCI uses payment information for completion of the transaction.
We may use the collected personal information (except for email address, which is described separately below) for the following purposes:
- Contacting you by postal mail with renewal and other information related to certification and registration, Continuing Education, examination, and other normal CCI business.
- Providing your postal information (if you approve it) to Continuing Education providers, employment recruiters, or professional societies.
- Providing registration information to employers, state governments, and other organizations seeking registration verification.
Visitors that browse through this site or download files, our servers automatically collect limited information from your computer’s connection to the Internet, including your Internet provider (IP) address. Your IP address does not identify you personally and is used to administer our Web site. The information is used to deliver our Web pages to you upon request, to tailor our site to the interests of our visitors, and to measure traffic within our site.
Disclosure of Information
CCI may disclose the personal information of applicants, candidates, and registrants without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the law or comply with legal process served on CCI or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of CCI; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of CCI, or the public.
If we have the permission of applicants, candidates, and credential holders to do so: (a) we may from time to time make their names and postal addresses available to employers for recruitment purposes or to others (such as organizations related to CCI credential holders and Continuing Education sponsors) who may wish to contact them; and (b) we will also include name, city, state, and certification information for credential holders in the "credential verification" section of this site.
Choices and Access to Personal Information
We want to keep your personal information accurate in our records. You may correct or update your postal and email addresses through your online account. You may correct other information by contacting CCI.
Email Addresses
Upon applying for a CCI examination, an applicant must provide an active email address to receive communications from CCI. By providing their email address on this site, applicants have opted in to get emails from CCI, for the following:
- Informational emails regarding examination application or administration
- Informational emails regarding the maintenance of your CCI credential(s)
- CCI news and information
- Informational emails on behalf of professional societies, CE providers, employment recruiters, and/or academic researchers
Applicants, candidates, and registrants may change their email preferences anytime by logging in to their online account. Applicants, candidates, and credential holders cannot opt out of emails with an administrative purpose of notifying users of their examination or ongoing certification requirements.
CCI does not share, sell, trade, exchange, or rent the email addresses of candidates or registrants to third parties except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy.
Candidate and Credential Holder Privacy
CCI staff and contractors are prohibited from revealing the identity or examination score information of an exam candidate to any inquiring third party without consent of the candidate or credential holder.
Security
Data security is implemented through physical, administrative, and technical safeguards we put in place and the operational procedures we use to protect personal information. Strict measures are used to store and maintain personally identifying information to protect it from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction by any unauthorized party while it is under our control. These measures include physical and electronic systems to safeguard the information and prevent the improper use or disclosure of private information with which we are entrusted in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws.
